UK to introduce zero-emission ships by 2025
The UK will introduce zero-emission ships in its waters in four years' time. Grant Shapps, the transport secretary, has announced the plan as part of an initiative to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Hybrid ferries are already running between certain UK ports but the new strategy will introduce ships that rely exclusively on green propulsion such as hydrogen power, batteries or wind by 2025.
